Event Details

We are surrounded by systems: family, education, healthcare, and many others. Within these systems are leverage points, where a small change in one area can make a significant difference in the system. The foster care systems is a complex system that impacts the lives of many children and families. Within this system are a variety of leverage points that indviduals and groups can insert themselves. Historically, young women who have been in foster care have their first child earlier than the general population, and children whose mothers were in foster care, have a greater chance of ending up in foster care.

This class will educate participants about the foster care system both nationally and locally, and allow individuals to brainstorm how they can create positive supports for young parents who have been in foster care.
