Event Details

Please note, this program is CANCELED. We will reschedule when all is well!

The written word is powerful. Poetry can be used like a snapshot showcasing issues to bring awareness to others. It can allow you to take pain and present it in a cathartic fashion, taking it out of the mind and placing it on paper. Poetry can help give you a way to manage it, a way to get a hold of it and begin healing.

The class is broken into four lectures/workshops of 90 minutes each, meeting at FEARLESS from 7 pm-8:30 pm, Thursdays, April 9, 16, 23, and 30.

Total tuition for the class is 40.00. If finances are a hardship, there are two scholarships available. Email me at [email protected] or message me on Facebook for details on how to apply. The deadline for scholarships is March 26th.

Classes will cover a beginning lecture showcasing several poet’s work. Classic and contemporary. Discussion of traditional forms and free verse. The second class will be writing poetry. I will provide prompts. Third class will be workshopping your poetry. Fourth and final class gives you the opportunity to read your work in a safe and secure environment in front of classmates, family (if you choose) and other FEARLESS members.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Disclaimer: Poetry isn’t a substitute for therapy, but it can be utilized in conjunction. I am not a therapist, just sharing some methods I have learned along the way in my own life.
