Event Details

There are a lot of things in this world that drag women down: wage gap, gender inequality, cat calls and body shaming just to name a few. Often, however, our worst enemy is much closer than we think. Negative self-talk and self-criticism are some of the most insidious ways in which we sabotage ourselves. This class is designed to start the conversation about where these negative ideas come from and how we can go about making a change in the way we treat ourselves. Using the tenants of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (and a few other things for flavor) we will be exploring the deeper reasons why we tear ourselves down and how we can better build ourselves back up again.

Stephanie Adrian is a Licensed Clinician Social Worker with Monarch Behavioral Health in Winston Salem. She graduated with a BA in Psychology from UNC-Asheville and a Master’s in Social Work from UNC-Greensboro and NC A&T. During the past 13 years she has worked in a variety of practice settings including hospitals (inpatient psychiatric and medical floors), substance abuse clinics, group homes, in home therapy, and now community mental health. She also teaches in-service training for Monarch on Trauma Informed Care which has become very important to her and her practice. Stephanie is active with PFLAG Winston Salem and also has particular interest in the needs of the LGBTQ+ population and how mental health agencies can better serve the community.
