Carla C. Day wants to live in a world where everyone values food safety: no more vomiting, no more diarrhea, and no more stomach cramps at 2 am. As a health inspector, she dedicated her twenty’s to local government and now her thirties are taking her to the sky. A veteran of food safety, she is the Area Food Safety Director for Chick-Fil-A’s Triad West market. When she isn’t ensuring food safety, she works on Inspector Mama, her heart project focusing on children’s safety, and figuring out how to balance work, life, and motherhood.
Ronnie Valenti has BS in Chemistry from St. John’s University in NY, MS in Chemistry from Rutgers University. She worked for 7 years at Squibb Pharmaceuticals in the 70’s, when she quit to have her first child. She moved to NC in 82 and taught part-time at Forsyth Tech in Adult Literacy  GED program on campus and in Forsyth County jail. In 2000 went full time as Testing Coordinator for GED and ESL programs.
Kim Garrett is a western North Carolina native, growing up in the small town of Hayesville, NC. She received her undergraduate degree in Atmospheric Science with a concentration in weather forecasting from UNC-Asheville in 2006, and have been working in the marine forecasting field for almost 10 years. The first 3 years were in Oklahoma working for Japanese based company Weathernews, and currently, she works from home for San Jose based Aerospace and Marine International (AMI). Over the past 7 years at AMI, she has trained in all 3 services AMI offers, ship routing, offshore and end of voyage analysis, and had the opportunity to travel to Scotland on 2 different occasions for work (and if you have a passion for Scotland and genealogy, its another HUGE passion of mine!)  She is also hoping to get accepted into NC State’s Distance Learning program for their Masters’ in Environmental Assessment starting next year – (hopefully by the time of the talk she’ll know!)  In her spare time, her husband (who is also an air quality meteorologist for the county) and she enjoy college football (Go Wolfpack!), concert going, craft beer/hard cider, volunteering (she volunteers at Forsyth Humane Society), crocheting and piddling in her yard. She also has a 8-year-old cat named Bowie – who runs the show. IG: @mrs_rain_doctor
